Fonteyn (Letter)
Two autograph letters signed ('Margot Fonteyn') to Margaret Pritchard, one reading "I should like to thank you most sincerely for the very lovely bouquets which I greatly appreciated...it will not be long before we again dance before our most appreciative Manchester audience", two pages, some fraying and chipping to margins, 8vo, Royal Turk's Head Hotel, Newcastle upon Tyne, 29 July 1943; in the other letter Fonteyn thanks her recipient for her flowers and says "it was not at all inconvenient for you to speak to me at the time. I was sorry to be a little brief", two pages, 8vo, New Theatre, St Martin's Lane, 2 June n.y [1944 or 1945]. (2)
PROVENANCE: Both letters were sent to the vendor's mother, Margaret Pritchard, who became a professional ballet dancer by the end of the war with the Anglo-Polish Ballet, with the stage name of Margaret Baron.
