Artist Description:
Ry Fyan’s practice flows out of repetition, improvisation and diary-like recording whatever he is thinking about, be that a coco-cola can or imagery conjured from listening to music. His dystopian architectural fantasies have all the complexity and meticulous visual invention of, as the artist puts it, “drawings on a notebook from childhood.” Take a moment and passively observe your own thoughts throughout the day and you’ll start to understand the constantly changes visuals that flow in and out of Fyan’s scenes. On a broader scale, Fyan’s drawings represent a bleak vision of American power.
