A late 19th century Burmese unmarked silver bowl, Mandalay circa 1890
Of rounded circular form with embossed decoration from the Jataka tales, with a continuous frieze of figures including a caparisoned elephant and a figure within a Burmese rosewood tree, also two figures sat upon an ornate bed (dias) with chased carving. All reserved with ring punched and chased ‘wall paper’ ground, below architraves interspersed with animal masks, all below a border of chased foliate scrolls. The underside with a flat chased encircled peacock in a Burmese rosewood tree.
