A MEISSEN TEA CANISTER AND A COVER, circa 1728, of rectangular form, all four sides painted with Kauffahrtei scenes depicting merchants at work in a harbour, with ships in the distance, in the style of Christian Friedrich Herold, the two larger panels within gilt scrollwork cartouches embellished with Böttger lustre and purple and iron-red scrollwork, the later cover similarly decorated with chinoiserie figures by a harbour, 10cm high, crossed swords mark in blue, gold numeral 74., impressed Dreher’s cross and four dots for Andreas Schiefer (2) PROVENANCE: Private German collection.
