Wyatt Family.- Virginia and England
Group of letters related to the descendants of Sir Francis Wyatt, Royal Governor of Virginia between 1621 and 1625, comprising: three letters from William Wyatt in Fredricksburg, Virginia, to Francis Wyatt in Liverpool, covering various subjects ("Your cousin, Frank Wiatt son of my father's elder brother, Frank, is in possession of an entailed estate which on his death devolves to you. It contains 1500 acres of fine land, worth £2,000 Virginia currency. The person in whose custody is at present is old in constitution, cracks in the pericranium, or more properly speaking more fitt to be confined in Dean Swist's hospital in Dublin than to be in possession of so fine an estate", 19 January 1773, "My brother Thomas mentions Dr Clelands having requested 4 months to pay my demand, two of which he says were then expired, so that I have no doubts, by your applying to Messrs Backhouse or my uncle Quiney, of your being paidif they have received it...Our trade is much abridged, especially to the West Indies; a circumstance our wise Legislative did not forsee.
