Autograph letter from a James Douglas to William Philip Perrin, owner of the Grange Hill plantation in Jamaica, mostly discussing the crop, three pages, address leaf, two losses to paper due to seal removal, folding marks with occasional splitting, folio, Grange Hill, 7 May 1774; with an autograph letter signed ('James Blaw') to Perrin, who also owned the Blue Mountain plantation where Blaw was in charge of the slaves, reading in part "We have now finished crop and have shipped 282 hogsheads. I had once hopes of reaching 300 but our canes yielded remarkably bad towards the latter end of crop. Considering many unfavourable matters, and the indifferent yielding of canes in general, it is much more than I expected at one time", two pages, address leaf, remnants of wax seal, folding marks, 4to, Jamaica, 2 July 1776.
