Rosebery (Archibald Philip Primrose, Earl of), British Prime Minister
Typed letter signed ('R') to Martin Conway, marked "Dictated. Private", reading "I have devoted much of my life to House of Lords reform, and have arrived at a state of surfeit or satiety. I have been submerged for my years by plans, printed and manuscript, and so I do not think I will ask for yours...The worst of it is that the wishes of the House of Commons and those of the House of Lords are diametrically opposed on this question... and I do not see how this difficulty is to be surmounted. But I read and welcomed a delightful little book of yours on collecting objects of art. It was quite like Scrope's book on 'Deerstalking' for a deerstalker", two pages, folding mark, closed tear to upper left corner, oblong 8vo, The Durdans, Epsom, 16 December 1922.
