the Carrara marble bust depicting a gentleman with sideburns and curly hair, shown in the Neo-Classical manner wearing a toga, 'all' antica', raised on a cylindrical socle,

This unsigned bust of a gentleman in classical dress with finely carved hair resembles the work of Sir Francis Leggatt Chantry, for example his bust Arthur Wellesey, 1st Duke of Wellington; as well as portrait busts by other early 19th century British sculptors such as E.H. Baily and William Behnes.
