The Artist Little is known of the silversmith Christian Hillan, whose business flourished in London for only a few years after entering his first mark as a plateworker in April 1736. It is thought based on his name that he may have been a Scandinavian immigrant. Hillan, along with other silversmiths of the same period worked in the fashionable rococo style, before disappearing from record in 1742/3.
