A very rare George III Irish provincial sterling silver basting / stuffing spoon, Limerick circa 1780 by Maurice Fitzgerald Of bright cut plume Celtic point pattern, with single drop heel, initialled J H in flourished cursive script. Marked to the stem with makers marks twice and stamped ‘sterling’. Length – 31.6 cm / 12.5 inches Weight – 99 grams / 3.18 ozt This spoon probably previously with Adams’s of Dublin, 14th March 2007 lot 66, a straining spoon of the same pattern by Fitzgerald sold Christies, London 29th of November 2011 Lot 358.
