Late Qing dynasty

晚清 藍套料螭龍紋手鐲

Carved through translucent blue glass to a bubble-suffused ground with sinuous dragons chasing each other's tails

7.1cm diameter

Provenance: Property of a French Private Collection formed in Hong Kong during the 1960’s-1980’s

A related pair from the Barney and Emma Dagan Collection, carved instead with the Eight Daoist Emblems in red-overlay, was offered at Christie's New York, 21st March 2014, lot 2362, and also referenced in C.F. Shangraw and C. Brown, 'A Chorus of Colors: Chinese Glass from Three American Collections', Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, 1995, p. 121, no. 96 a,b.

Another related bracelet, of red-overlay and carved with shou characters, is housed in the Corning Museum of Glass, acc. no. 51.6.138.
