An early Victorian sterling silver gilt ‘castle top’ vinaigrette, Birmingham 1838 by Nathaniel Mills
Of rectangular form with a hinged lid with a cast scene of Windsor castle, with a chased edge. Chased foliate sides and engine turned base with a rectangular vacant cartouche. The gilt interior with a hinged pierced grill of foliate scrolls and a rosette. Fully marked and part marked to the grill.
Length – 3.8 cm / 1.5 inches
Weight – 24 grams / 0.77 ozt
