A mid-20th century Bhutanese silver bottle, probably Thimphu circa 1960
of globular form upon a tapering collet foot, the tall cylindrical neck with a pull off domed cover. The lower section of body embossed with various animals in cartouches interspersed with human figures in the Vitruvian pose dressed in necklaces and shawls. The upper section of bands of trailing foliage, acanthus scrolls or acanthus leaves, the central section of the neck with a chased faceted lozenges. Engraved underneath in French with a presentation inscription “Ensouvenir de notre piballe amitie a son petit moineau, Ria” (Remembering our friendship with his little sparrow).
