An early 20th century German 800 standard silver cased singing bird box, circa 1920 by Karl Griesbaum
Of shaped rectangular form with chased decoration of foliate scrolls and birds against a matted ground throughout. The hinged central lid with chased crossed cornucopia of plenty centred with an eagle with wings expanded above tied ribbon. The mechanism activated by an eagle thumbpiece to the front. The gilt interior with pierced grill with colourful singing bird, mechanism functioning. Stamped 800 marks underneath. Housed in a modern fitted case with modern key, branded for Douglas Fisher London.
