Asian II will feature further Chinese Works of Art, but also feature Japanese Works of Art alongside South East Asian works. The Japanese section is led by lot 1000, a rare set of Japanese Nanban Seigan lacquer panels from the Momoyama period and an oil painting by Pieter Holsteyn (1585-1662), mounted within an Aesthetic Movement rosewood cabinet attributed to Thomas Jeckyll. Further highlights include some outstanding examples of lacquer, mixed metal bronzes, cloisonné, netsuke, prints, paintings and ceramics. Of which, lot 1010 is an outstanding and large pair of Japanese bronze ‘Hōō and Kame’ okimono by Muroe Kichibei (1841-1903).
