This September’s Old Masters and 19th Century Art sale showcases a wonderful variety of paintings, drawings and works on paper spanning the 16th to the 19th Century. Among the highlights of this sale is an excellent large-scale example by Jasper Francis Cropsey (American, 1823-1900), an important member of the Hudson River School; a Portrait of a Lady by Cornelis Jonson van Ceulen (London, 1853-1664 Utrecht); a pencil drawing depicting a track leading to a stile by Thomas Gainsborough (British, 1727-1788); and a collection of etchings, drawings and ephemera relating to John Constable (British, 1776-1837), Bishop John Fisher (1748-1825) and his family.
