Specialising in offering rarely seen and privately owned individual works and collections, the department continues to witness exponential growth reflecting the rising demand for 20th century and contemporary art, sculpture, ceramics and furniture.
Highlights have included original artwork by Chafic Aboud, Keith Haring, Keith Vaughan and a watercolour by Sean Scully. The print category has also produced good results by Alexander Calder, L.S. Lowry, Howard Hodgkin and Terry Frost, as have the more contemporary works by urban artists such as Banksy, Pure Evil and Paul Insect.
Glass and ceramics have performed well such as an early Venini Bullicante glass vase c.1930s, an Italian Lenci figure, Rene Lalique glass and Studio Pottery by Lucie Rie, Ewen Henderson and Hans Coper. We are always looking to consign Scandinavian glass and ceramics, Murano glass, and popular British makes such as Clarice Cliff, Moorcroft, Whitefriars among others.
We have sold signed Paul Evans furniture c.1970 and also welcome Danish 1960’s furniture by Hans Wegner, Mogens Kold and Arne Vodder to name a few. Makers such as John and Sylvia Reid for Stag, Robin Day for Hille, Paolo Buffa and French 1950’s – 1970’s furniture are always popular. We also feature contemporary designs by B&B Italia, Minotti and Capellini.
