A nearly daily account of Astor’s hunting activities between Sept. 1900 and the end of January 1901in and around the Cliveden and the Oxfordshire area, with an entry covering the death of Queen Victoria on January 22nd, 1901 reading "So the poor Queen is dead. I must say I was astonished at her holding out so long as on Sunday it seemed hopeless while yesterday it was long odds against her being alive this morning……I went up to town in black clothes today and was rather astonished when from the train I saw the flag at Windsor still flying at the masthead...no one knows exactly what will happen….., original parchment covered boards, marbled edges, Wildorf Astor’s signature and date of 1900 in pencil to freeenf-paper, title in manuscript to upper board, slightly rubbed and dust soiled, [1900-01]
