A VERY FINE SILK KASHAN RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA, approx: 202cm. x 131cm. Very good type with very well drawn design and nicely balanced colours with soft ivory field. This rug has localized wear to the top pile, down to knot collar in places, otherwise the pile is good, soft silk quality. Selvages original, touches of fraying on cord. Ends with short fringes, loss of plain guard stripe at each end. All this reflects in an estimate. Despite imperfections, this rug is in good usable condition. Very fine weave, approx; 8 x 7 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. Good example from Kashan weaving. Attractive piece.
